Ben and Laura’s dream of moving to the coast became a reality when they purchased the little beach shack at 3 Rocklea Drive, Torquay at auction in February this year. The property drew a lot of attention due to the desirable location of the Church Estate in Torquay, and the opportunity of an original well-maintained beach house on a generous block size. The couple and their two young children originally from Melbourne, have been working tirelessly renovating the home with meticulous attention to detail. Olivia Swann popped around to catch up with them and see how their renovations were going and was absolutely blown away by the transformation!
The home has been completely transformed, walls removed to open up the spaces and the original floorboards have been sanded and lime-washed throughout. A stunning new kitchen takes pride of place, with beautiful timber bench tops and a butler’s sink. The fresh white cabinetry, detailed tiles and timber Venetian blinds really are a classic combination that oozes beach house styling. The home has been freshly painted inside and out to reflect the classic white beach shack aesthetic. New light fittings and ceiling fans have replaced the rattan retro shades, and sheer full drop curtains have replaced the lace blinds and heavy curtains. The bathroom was completely gutted and redone with a combination of oversize textured grey tiles and a timber vanity with stunning precast concrete sink. The black tap ware gives the space a contemporary feel. The styling of the entire home is seriously divine, and the bedrooms are truly a sanctuary to unwind.
Lastly it cannot be ignored that the front door is just the prettiest, most welcoming pink. Well done Ben, Laura and family! Thank you so much for inviting us back to see what you’ve done and to share this with everyone, I’m sure many people will feel inspired to get renovating! We certainly are!
